A&M's Jessica Beard takes 4th in USA 400 final

EUGENE, Ore. -- Texas A&M sprinter Jessica Beard finished fourth in the women's 400 meters Saturday in the third day of the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field. Her time of 51.06 seconds was her best outdoor time of the 2011 season.

Beard's effort put her in the relay pool for the United States 1,600 team, which will compete at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, beginning August 27.

Three Aggies advanced to Sunday's semifinals in the 200: Tran Howell for the men, Porscha Lucas and Jeneba Tarmoh for the women.

Freshman Prezel Hardy Jr. took second place in the men's Junior 200, while freshman Ashley Collier took fourth in the women's Junior 200.
