Aggies drop four spots at NCAA Golf Championships

The Aggies struggled Wednesday at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, falling four spots to finish the second round in a tie for eighth place after a 13-over 301.

Georgia Tech leads at 3-under 573 with UCLA one back. Illinois is in third at 578 followed by Georgia (579), Alabama (580), Oklahoma State (585), Augusta State (588) and A&M and Ohio State (590).

The top eight teams after Thursday's round three will advance to the match-play portion of the championship. Six teams are within six strokes of A&M and Ohio State for the final berth into the quarterfinals.

A&M's Cameron Peck shot 74 and stands at 2-under 142, tied for sixth in the individual standings. Also for A&M, Ignacio Elvira is at 149 after a 77, Jordan Russell (77) and Conrad Shindler (73) are at 150 and John Hurley is at 157 (81).

Also on Wednesday, Elvira, Peck, Russell and Shindler were named to the 26-member Division I PING All-Central Region team selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
